LIGHT THE WAY FOR OTHERS
Jordan MacDonald:
Turning chance into change for young parents
Can random acts of kindness become a deliberate force for good? Jordan MacDonald believes so—and he's building the proof by reshaping the future for teen parents across New Brunswick and beyond
01
A Life-Changing Encounter
While juggling studies, work and fatherhood, Jordan met Dr. Rob Moir, a UNB professor who offered more than just encouragement — he connected Jordan to essential support services, including financial aid and childcare. That moment changed the course of Jordan’s life and ultimately inspired his mission to help others.
From Struggle to Scholarship
With support from faculty and newfound stability, Jordan thrived at UNB. He became Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper, published research as an undergrad and graduated with near-perfect grades. His journey continued through a Master’s degree and now a PhD back at UNB, where his research focuses on the realities faced by young parents.

Building a Nonprofit Rooted in Experience
In 2024, Jordan co-founded Adapt for Education, a nonprofit that connects teen parents in Saint John with mentors, financial support and educational opportunities — long before crisis hits. Backed by faculty, community partners and seed funding from Harvard, Adapt is turning Jordan’s lived experience into a network of hope
